Diamond Head is a luxury area with many waterfront homes and is often grouped together with the Kahala neighborhood due to the proximity and the fact that Diamond Head road turns into Kahala Avenue. It is named after the famous Diamond Head Volcanic cone known to Hawaiians as Le'ahi because the shape of the Ridgeline resembles the shape of a tuna's dorsal fin.
The Waialae Country Club is a private club and golf course that hosts the Sony Open every year and the Kahala Hotel and Resort which has three restaurants and is open to the public is right next door. The Diamond Head area also has access to Kapiolani Park where you see many people walking, running and bicycling. There are soccer games, running groups and other sporting events that meet at this well known and loved park. In this area you can find the Gold Coast which is the name given too many boutique buildings that line the beach and are very popular for people looking for ocean views in a primary or second home.
